Sherri Jefferson: AIDS, gangs, and the community

October 23, 2017

As unique and colorful as the fall leafs, so are the months of September and October.

This fall, Sherri Jefferson has been very busy participating in numerous community based programs and service projects.

The Fulton DeKalb Hospital Authority conducted its annual summit.  This year, the color was red - “Code Red”.  This theme represented the platform for AIDS awareness and Sheryl Lee Ralph was the keynote speaker.  She was provocative, informative and inspiring.

As an advocate for victims of sex trafficking, Sherri Jefferson has witnessed first- hand the impact of HIV/AIDS and STDs among this vulnerable population.  The FDHA remains a needed resource for the community.

FDHA also conducted panel discussions about youth violence, gang prevention, reentry and health.

The Fulton County Sheriff Department sponsored "H.Y.P.E. 2017,"an event for children and families.  The department offered programs and seminars about crime prevention, community services, and conducted panel discussions.

The deputies engaged the community and many youth who are served by AAJJP and Sherri Jefferson were program participants.  Jefferson is grateful for the community-based services provided by the sheriff and his staff.
