Fort Valley State University served as the host for a conference seeking to eliminate dating violence, sexual assault and sex trafficking. The Fort Valley Links, Incorporated presented the “Lipstick, Hugs and Kisses Conference” on Saturday, October 6, 2018.
Sherri Jefferson was a keynote speaker for the program. She was an invited guest of the university’s outreach program headed by Mr. Alvin Lindsey and the Links, Inc. Jefferson presented her #FemaleNOTFeemale and JUST US platform - Juvenile Urban Sex Trafficking in the United States.
She addressed an articulate, enthusiastic and motivated group of students about sex trafficking and sexual violence against women and children. Jefferson also highlighted issues facing members of the LGBTQIA population, especially transgender victims of sex trafficking within the African-American community.
The diverse student body included presenters from other organizations, including Ms. Glover, an HIV/AIDS advocate from Columbus, Georgia and representatives from Warner Robins Air Force Base Sex Education and Sexual Violence Prevention program.
The Fort Valley Chapter of The Links, incorporated, through its national organization, is dedicated to providing programs and services to help the Fort Valley community.
